Welcome to Strickland Middle School

Opened in 1968, Strickland Middle School is named after Chester O. Strickland, a former administrator and superintendent for Denton ISD. Mr. Strickland retired in 1968 and was present at the school’s dedication.

On May 5, 2018, Denton ISD voters approved a $750.5 million capital improvement plan – at the time, the largest in district history – which included a replacement campus for Strickland.

Construction on the new campus began in 2019, and the remodeled building fully opened for 951 students in grades 6- 8 on Aug. 12, 2021, on the same site. Strickland Middle School primarily serves students in the Ryan High School attendance zone.
